Credit Dispute Form and Assistance

Should you find inaccurate information on your credit report, you have the right to dispute that information. The National Credit Reporting Agencies (CRAs), Equifax, Experian, and/or Trans Union will respond to your request within 30 days of receiving your dispute.

Below are instructions to assist you in the dispute process, or for your convenience, you can use our preformatted dispute form.

Dispute Instructions

To dispute incorrect information on your Experian credit report:

To dispute incorrect information on your TransUnion credit report:
You may contact TransUnion directly by calling their customer service department at 1-800-916-8800 for assistance or you can click on the link www.transunion.com to file any disputes and/or corrections online.

To dispute incorrect information on your Equifax credit report:
Click on the link below to file any disputes and/or corrections you have with data contained in your Equifax credit file.

To dispute incorrect information on your credit report by mail:

  • Send a letter to the CRA who is reporting the incorrect information. Your credit report shows which CRA(s) you need to contact.
  • Send a copy of the letter to the creditor who reported the incorrect information.
  • Keep a copy of the letter for your personal files should you need it again.

Along with the letter, you can send a copy (NEVER MAIL ORIGINALS!) of paperwork or documents which help validate your request, or send a photocopy of your credit report with the item(s) you are disputing circled or highlighted.

Make sure to include the following information when making a dispute:

  • Your full name: Include your first, middle and last name with any suffixes such as Jr., Sr., III, etc...
  • Your complete and current mailing address
  • Your previous address if not at the current address for 2 years
  • Your birth date
  • Your Social Security Number
  • A picture I.D.
  • The name of the creditor, along with your account number who is reporting the information you feel is incorrect
  • The reason you are disputing the information (account is not mine, account is paid in full, etc...)
  • Daytime phone number
  • Your signature
  • Mail your dispute to the appropriate CRA whose addresses are listed below.
